FM-200, also known as HFC-227ea or Heptafluoropropane (CF₃CHFCF₃), is a halocarbon-based clean agent fire suppression agent. Developed in accordance with TS EN 15004, ISO 14520, and NFPA 2001 standards, this system is safely used in areas containing sensitive equipment due to its colorless, odorless, and electrically non-conductive structure.
Designed for the purpose of extinguishing Class A, Class B, and Class C fires, the FM-200 system has been tested and approved by international certification bodies such as UL, FM, and LPCB. Operating on the principle of volume protection, the system activates within approximately 10 seconds after a fire is detected, brings the flames under control in a short time, and minimizes potential damage in the areas to be protected.
For the system to operate effectively, the environment to be protected must undergo a leak test. Furthermore, it is of great importance that hydraulic calculations are performed using the licensed software of the system manufacturer. Accurate engineering calculations increase suppression performance by ensuring the complete planning of cylinder capacity, piping, and nozzle placement.
FM-200 clean agent suppression systems can be safely used in occupied areas provided that proper project design is implemented. During the design phase, NOAEL and LOAEL safety limits must be considered, and the gas concentration must be calculated in accordance with international standards. Thus, both effective fire suppression is ensured and user safety is protected.
Using a lower amount of gas compared to many other clean agent suppression systems is one of the important advantages of FM-200. Thanks to its requirement for less cylinder space, providing ease of installation, and leaving no residue after suppression, it is widely preferred in data centers, electrical panels, control rooms, telecommunication infrastructures, archives, museums, and areas containing high-value electronic systems. Depending on the need, gas cylinders can be positioned inside or outside the protected area.
