It is used in sprinkler suppression systems to provide mechanical and electrical alarms with water flow when there is no danger of the water freezing and the temperature is above 4°C. When one or more sprinklers are activated, the alarm valve flap opens, allowing water to start flowing into the delay chamber. The pressure switch, alarm gong, and mechanical and electrical alarms are all engaged when the delay chamber is filled.
